I have never hunted there but have driven through it numerous times and cross country it it only probably around 6 miles from where I live. You should have no trouble getting a Doe. There are Exotics all over the County. Some places have more than others. Probably more Axis than any thing else. Find you some water and sit by it and you will see stuff. A lot of hogs in that area.

I hunted there last year. They put me in a pasture to the right as soon as you drive onto the SNA. They told me that pasture had the most axis. I did see one axis fawn the last morning but no mature axis showed up. You have to walk to your stand and they put the youngest guys in the stands with the farthest walk. They allowed baiting with approved corn but there again you will have to pack it in. It was a great hunt. I didn’t see a doe until the last minute on the first day. The next day it was COLD (like 20 degrees) and windy. I don’t think anyone hunted that morning but by afternoon the deer were moving good. I saw a doe but she walked across the opening before I could get my gun up then ate corn for about 10 minutes but all I had was a head shot and they told us not to take head shots because of the CWD sampling. I saw a good 8 pt buck, shot a hog and then saw the one axis fawn. My advice is pack in as much corn as you can, spread it as far as you can comfortably shoot and be patient. There are lots of deer there but it’ll take them a day or two to come to the corn.

I hunted there in 2015 and out of my group of three no shots were fired. The fields that were in section 8 were full of deer, but they generally put the older guys there. I guess we looked to be in good shape because I think we hunted in 6. It was a big canyon with a power line right of way. We took pop ups and the first morning the deer came in behind me a snorted. If I did it again, I would just make a brush blind or carry a tripod. The country is very thick cedar. We had hot weather the first day and then a norther blew in the last night and made it tougher. If it's cold you should do alright.

Thanks Eastwood. That’s a problem with hunts from assigned blinds.

Yeah, they don't have any blinds already in place. I think the deer just saw my pop up blind and realized it didn't belong there. That's why I'd use natural cover or maybe a tripod if you didn't have to carry it to far. It was an almost two mile walk to where I was hunting. Bring a deer cart or pack pole if you have one.
