Need a new roof /basket for the mule. Steel or aluminum construction. Any suggestions? The folks I bought one from before, are now using diamonds and gold during mfg process. I can’t think of any other reason their prices went up that much.....

I recently put a steel roof from Fortress on my Mule Pro Ranch. You can stand on it with no problem. I had Irving Kawasaki order it and installed. They have a roof rack option. Around $700 if I remember correctly.

Did this one on my old Mule 550.
Uses 3/4" exterior plywood sealed with porch paint and angle/tubing frame.
Stand on it to fill feeders and watch races.

Cheers,

I just bought a 4X12 sheet of 3/16 aluminum and have it at a machine shop getting broke and flared for the front. Should have about $250 in it when its screwed on. Using less than half the plate for the roof so am going to look into making a real skid plate out of the rest of it. Kawasaki's Mule Pro is a great machine but they ought to be ashamed of what they put under and over them from the factory. Pure junk.

A fancy expensive roof or skid plate won't help the machine run better or last longer for 99 percent of the users.
They put the money and engineering where it counts to make it the machine it is.

I'm sure ANY shop will be extremely happy to bolt on everything anybody can afford.

That being said, here is a salute to the other 1 percent:
You sound like you have a good handle on fixing it to your liking and are very capable of doing so.
Make sure you post pictures when done.
All the other DIY folks like you and me are always looking for good ideas to steal and adapt to our toys too!

The roof I'm building Vern1 is influenced by your creation. It's a piece of cake but the skid plate is going to be a difficult project for me because I have physical limitations. The old style mules were much better protected than the pro is. Just look under one and you will see why I call it junk. Mighty poor engineering to say the least.

I had a scrap piece of flat iron plate left over from something. Cut out a piece for the roof and a piece to hold my rifle. On a Mule SX.

Triple C welding in Cleburne makes some great looking stuff. I have a Fortress roof which is fine, but wish I had one from Triple C.
