Was able to spend last weekend on a houseboat on Lake Ouachita in Arkansas with the family. This is one of my favorite lakes. All had a great time.

I wish... we have an older Moomba XLV. But had a friend met us who is a rep for Hyperlite and he gets new Nautiques every year to demo their products. That boat dwarfs ours even though it is the same length.

We love it. That was our 4 year in a row.

Are you renting the houseboat? If so, which rental company do you prefer?

We have used Almost Home Houseboats, Lake Escape Houseboats, and this time used Wakezone Luxury Houseboats.

Wakezone had the newest boats of the three we have rented before and a nice location. I didn't like the location of Almost Home because we spend the majority of our time in a cove on the south side of the lake which is opposite from Almost Home Houseboats.

Lake Escape is in Brady Mountain and has nice older boats and is a good option.

If you want more information PM and I will give you a call. That lake is one you need to be careful on if you don't know it well. Heard about several stories of people running aground and doing some major damage due to the extreme change in depths.

The only 'bad' part of the weekend. The two son-in-laws (me being one of them) get to drive the boat 3 miles back in the rain while the wife's family enjoyed taking pictures from the dry houseboat.

Not on this trip. We have been told this time of year is a bit difficult for stripers. We have gone out with a guide before and didn't have much luck. Apparently the fish are really deep and it wasn't fun fishing.... just dropping your jig down 75' and reeling them in.

Great information. I'll send you a PM on Friday. Thank you.

I would love to fish some Arkansas lakes! Has anyone ever found any arrowheads where you stay?

We got married 12 years ago in Hot Springs. After the ceremony I rented a ski boat and we skied and drank champagne on that beautiful lake. The next day we drove th the White River in Flippin and spent a week trout fishing. It was a great time. I still want to drag my boat up there and slab up some stripers.

When I was a kid, we spent summer in a rented lake house with all my cousins. Rented a boat, I learned to ski there. Now we like to stay at Shang Ri La in Mena, right on the shore. Great pies there.
