Just got off the phone with my farmer buddy who I usually hunt with.

He said the birds had not really shown up yet. Anyone else seeing low numbers in West Texas so far?

Didn’t see many in Woodson this weekend. But it’s still early.

Location location location, depends on crops also. Cut wheat or sunflowers or water out there you will have birds. I will be out at my place in haskell this weekend working on my cabin. Il report back after this weekend.

Was in Noodle area this past weekend. Very few birds. Had more a few weeks ago before the rain.

Cold front (relative term) coming later this week. May push some down.

If the dry weather stays in place, any water spot will be good, even with limited birds.... lots of stock tanks dry around Jones county.

Don’t get all chicken little on us. Unless your hunting city whitewings they haven’t even started grouping up.
I know we won’t see any big concentrations of birds till we start knocking down sunflowers next week.

Have a cocktail and relax

North of Albany was a little thin last weekend but we still have a ways to go. Sunflowers look good but need to dry up some.

Your farmer buddy is spot on. Head to DFW area and hit some of the hot spots, they are moving around good in NTX.

It's a Texas tradition that runs real deep.

We're going if we have to shoot dragonflies and tequila.

Ok I said this in the other thread. The young birds have not come out of the nest yet, it's too early. When they do the older birds will start flying together with the young birds.

What makes September 1 special besides it being dove season and the opening day of college football?

Was between Haskell and throckmorton yesterday. Sat on some tanks we have that are usually covered up but it is very thin compared to years past. This will be one of those years the best hunting will be in October.
