Bought mine at Academy. Not expensive at all. Worked fine for three seasons, but I had to replace the barrel band (bought a new feeder) this year. The hogs undermined the legs.

Russell Feed on north side of Decatur off of 287 that has HB brand. Made in Fort Worth. Most of ours are 15 year old Monarch from just south of FTW.

Make ur own. 55 gal. steel drum, inside funnel. deep sided metal lid. 12 volt feeder, coon cage and pipe legs. If you are the least bit handy with tools, you can do it for +or- $100. A lot of the ready made ones are plastic with cheap legs and no cage. Plastic does not do well in Texas heat.

I like those capsule feeders. Got 3 but they are not cheap. But have been great. On six years with them.

You get what you pay for in the feeder market place. I've scratched my head how many hunters go cheap on feeders that are highly subject to failure and destruction.
I used to do it myself when I had no choice, lol. I realized through experience I'm better off spending more for something sturdy and reliable. I live several hours away from where I hunt and go 2-3 months in the off season without visiting the ranch. It cost me more when the cheaper feeder fails to feed during all that time. If you can, cry once with your purchase.
I recommend Alamo, which you can purchase in the classifieds on this sight. Behind that would be Lamco's newest stand and fill that's very similar to the Alamo design.

I have used these Monarch feeders for years. I have seen multiple other feeders go down and replaced, and then the replacement feeder go down before my Monarch would. The Moultrie, and cheap feeders you get a Academy and other places are horrible. These Monarch feeders are easy to program, and last a LONG time. I highly recommend them. http://www.deerfeedertx.com/products/quantum-feeders/12-volt-55-gallon-feeders/

HEB has nice 55gallon barrel kits for a great price every year. They start them out at the best price and then go up in price a week later. It’s the best price I’ve seen on feeders every year. I wish I remembered the price. I’m thinking $99 bum I’m not sure. Has lid, drum, feeder unit, and leg kit. Found it... Waxahachie HEB has them in stock now.

The metal isn’t as important as the timer IMO. Doesn’t matter what brand you buy if the timer is crap. I have had great luck with The-Timer. It’s all I have used for the past 15 years. Not one issue.
