Do any of the public areas on Texas allow nutria hunting? Looking around on TPWD, I don't see any that do.

I think they're considered "fur-bearing" & "small non-game". So any public area that allows hunting of small game should allow that.

I was thinking that the place had to allow for furbearer hunting, as a few spots specifically allow it (Sam Houston and Blue Elbow). Is that not the case?

Furbeares are listed for the Sam and you're right the WMA has to specifically state furbearer hunting allowed.

There's no special restrictions mentioned for furbearers in the Sam Houston except for trapping, which is listed as Oct 28 to Mar 25. Hunter orange requirements as standard, except for at night. This is from last year's book of course
