Kinda lost the drive to do mounts about a year ago but my youngest has taken an interest in learning. We did his black duck that he shot in Centex

And wigeon.

Added it to the wall of wigeon on the bottom right.

And my chiloe

Got a silver and ringed teal to do soon. Our goal is to get about 20 birds done this summer.

Next up is his can and then my kings.

First of 8 kings to do in a single dead mount. Such cool birds but holy smokes they are challenging. So. Much extra skin.

Done with a tanned pribilof Fox pelt.

This bird was hammered. Feet were almost cut off so I transplanted some common eider feet onto it.

110 degrees outside. Too hot to do anything outside so started my big king rider deadmoumt

These birds are a bear to mount. They have big, heavy, downy, saggy skin.
The head onthe first one was the size of the body.

Most birds take about 2 hours to assemble and pose. This one took 5 hours of fighting it to get everything back where it’s supposed to go. My father in law was hanging out and watching. He came back at the end and brought me a big bottle and said I think your gonna need this....

Second one was smooth as silk. Back split this guy so I didn’t mess up the natural belly patterns.

2 down. 2 to go along with a couple harlis on the shelf.

Nice work Todd. Birds dry fast in this weather, Paul.

WOW. You are an artist. Those look great. Is this just a hobby? Looks professional to me.

Purely a hobby that I’ve been doing for about 18 years. I do anywhere from 2-20/year. One of my good friends is truly the best bird taxidermist in the world. I go work with him a couple days/year to keep up on new tricks
