I etched this little EDC blade made from an ADS buckshot billet this morning and it didn't come out with enough contrast to suit me. I was going to sand it back down and start over but since I've read about soaking them in strong coffee I thought why not give it a try. Soaked it some strong instant coffee for about an hour or so and here is how it came out. I can live with that!

Dry nice. What are you using for the handles? Coffee stained wood?

Haven't decided yet, might put some olive burl in the coffee and see how it turns out!

I couldn't rub it off. The etching is done after heat treating and tempering. It was etched in acid first, the coffee soak just gave it more contrast.
