This sounds about right for our area. Most of our fertilized pastures are running $35 - $45 a bale cost in fertilizer plus baling. We bale all of our own hay so we do not have as much cost. If you paid a commercial baler $25 a roll to bale you are looking at about $70 cost per bale this year for your own hay. You sell it for that you are not making a dime.

I was fishing on a ranch not far from home yesterday, I bet I saw 15 gooseneck trailers LOADED with round bales go by on the road in the three hours I was out there.

Lot of "hay for sale" signs around here but the freight would hurt.

Some of us are down to hauling cows or hay, both hurt, neither is a good option.
I've looked at a bunch of hay that wasn't worth buying & hauling, 2-3 year old, or fresh with as much as 30% moisture, 150f, wouldn't twist, 1/3+ weeds.

If folks could post a few of these hay for sale numbers they see it may help someone out.

I've exhausted every source I know of or can find, down to craigslist $85 - $110 hay, or hauling it 140+ miles.

John, saw some hay for sale yesterday near you on 1852 just south of Wayland near Lake Daniels. There were a few #s to call and some stacks if you want to drive over there.

Yuba Oklahoma just north of the river. $40 but it's Bermuda, clover, vetch, rye, and some Johnson grass

Big stack is on east side of road 1/4 to 2 miles south from VFD. Big sign on it so can't miss it. Saw another sign in town as well. Hope quality is good.
