Barrel length.

24" barrel, velocity hasn't been confirmed with chrono. I shot at 200 and 500 then used my kestrel to figure velocity based on drop, but I've shot from 100yrds out to 1280yrds with great success. Probably could go up on powder charge a lil but that load shot so good I didn't bother going any further.

I work backwards frequently, as well. You're probably know, your input MV can be wrong by up to 50 fps, and you're still on target to 500. Past that is where you can really figure out your velocity.

I agree, with staying with that load. If it's shooting well, it is difficult to venture from it. You're probably on the low node.

Yeah I think so, id like to play around with it a lil more but want to wait until I have access to a chrono to really get and confirm my results

IMHO, chasing accuracy past 1/2 MOA can be somewhat futile if your goal is long range steel banging. Wind usually has quite a bit more variability than that, so you're better off spending your time learning to read wind than chasing one or two tenths of an MOA in ammo/rifle tuning.

All that to say, if you have a good load, be thankful, go with it, and stop trying to tweak. JMHO, and it's worth what you paid for it. But if you become a wind-reading guru, then chasing that last bit of equipment accuracy can make more sense than someone just getting into the long range game.

there is an old expression of good enough for who it is for. I apply that to my guns and their diet. Some I do not expect great accuracy out of and 1.5 MOA is about as goos as I expect so reloads are within that. Others sun 1/2 MOA and I am happy, prefer to shoot more than chase that last little bit.

I agree, which is why I stopped there and have been shooting that load for the past year or so now. That gun is primarily used for target and steel banging. I use it some for hunting but only if I'm sitting in stand or on a hillside with a short walk. I have a 6x47 lapua same action with lighter barrel and an hs precision stock that I use for most of my hunting purposes, but it's hard to resist taking the creedmoor out whenever possible especially for headshooting does...lol
