Kinda lost the drive to do mounts about a year ago but my youngest has taken an interest in learning. We did his black duck that he shot in Centex

And wigeon.

Added it to the wall of wigeon on the bottom right.

And my chiloe

Got a silver and ringed teal to do soon. Our goal is to get about 20 birds done this summer.

Next up is his can and then my kings.

Beauties! Are you using an aviary for these? If so, which one?

Yes on the Argentina birds. I got them from ben pierce. He’s on FB.

First of 8 kings to do. Such cool birds but holy smokes they are challenging. So. Much extra skin.

Done with a tanned pribilof Fox pelt.

This bird was hammered. Feet were almost cut off so I transplanted some common eider feet onto it.

110 degrees outside. Too hot to do anything outside so started my big king rider deadmoumt

These birds are a bear to mount. They have big, heavy, downy, saggy skin.
The head onthe first one was the size of the body.

Most birds take about 2 hours to assemble and pose. This one took 5 hours of fighting it to get everything back where it’s supposed to go. My father in law was hanging out and watching. He came back at the end and brought me a big bottle and said I think your gonna need this....

Second one was smooth as silk. Back split this guy so I didn’t mess up the natural belly patterns.

2 down. 2 to go along with a couple harlis on the shelf.

I thought ducks from Argentina weren’t allowed to come back to the US?

Those look awesome. They breed copies here so you just buy one to mount I think.

Funny story sort of, my buddy had quite a few from Argentina mounted before ban. They were moving and birds were on a bed. His home alarm goes off so he drives home from work. His dog got in the house and he no longer has those mounts...

I bought a pen raised chiloe, ringed teal, and silver teal here.
