I plan on hunting on National Forest Land this year and I will probably get to the forest area hours before everyone else to find a camping spot. My question, is there an app where I can create a "way point" and then send it to the other people in my party so that they can locate me.
I wouldn't want to leave the camp site to go meet them and I will probably just confuse them if I give them instructions to find me in the forest.

Using Google Earth you can mark the spot, dropped pin. There is an icon you can click called share, that will bring up options including Mail where it can be sent to others in you group..

My son and I carry a map of the portion of the National Forest where we hunt in our hunting packs. We place numbers on the map so we can reference parking places, creeks crossing fences or pipelines, or whatever features we deem important.
Before leaving our campsite we tell each other where we are headed and which direction we are going to go from that map reference point.
An app or cell phone is not always dependable. In the area where I hunt cell coverage is non-existent or very spotty at best.
Luck favors the prepared mind.

If you have cell service - you can use https://what3words.com/They have broken down the world into 3x3 meter grids and each grid is named. All you need to do is share that grid name with your party and they can look it up on the map.

That is a great app as well if you need waypoints - both what3words and MilGPS need cell service I believe (no offline maps) - may be wrong about that. In remote territory w/o cell data I would use a handheld GPS device like Garmin.

I hunt public lands too. I use Onxmaps. https://www.onxmaps.comIt setups up waypoints, which I can send to friends/family. It records my tracking and tells me me if I'm getting close to private property.
