I was going to put up some hog panels around a new feeder. Should it be in the shape of a square or circle? The location is going to be in a square corner with a barbed wire fence on two sides. I was thinking about following that shape and make it square. Any suggestions?

I've had round and square pens over the years and never noticed much difference in them. My current feeder pen is 48' square and it works well.

I’d do a triangle to confuse them. I’m confused by the question.

I’d make a big circle around 13-14 panels

If you are using existing barbed wire fence corner/2 sides and not cattle paneling along them, then I assume you are only trying to keep out livestock (not hogs), so I would stretch barbed wire across and tie in to fence post on each fence thus making a large triangle. I had a feeder just like then in a corner and it was a deer magnet just be sure feeder does not throw corn close to sides that would entice cattle. Triangle will work even if you use cattle panels for that side. Just make it bigger (longer side) that what you think is necessary.

Circle is best for keeping hogs out.

we used 16 panels 36 high and made them round...We have a bunch of rock 12 inches down, so used rebar for supports and t post for the entrance/gate...worked awesome.. no more piggies... dont even come around anymore... Next 4 are going to be 18 panels......

if using existing fencing on two side, I don't think it really matters whether you end up square or rounded across the other two sides. I think the rounded would be better as it would be more difficult to bow inward if something was pushing on it. T-posts on the inside...

Being round sure makes it easier to mow especially on a hot humid day. IMO

Not sure why my picture did not come up? Any suggestions on how to do that. I followed the example given under the photo's section.

Went with a circle because you get more square footage.

We have used Hog Panels for >35 yrs now with great success. There should one Tee Post only at the joining of each panel wired to both panel with tie wire. Try to bow the panels out a little .Try to make pen as round as possible. Never use less than 6 panels. With a good post driver you can have a 7 panel pen up in less than an hour. Never use a feed pen if you don't have to.
