Needing some help on what to do. I figure you gun dog guys have the solution. Our Australian Shepherd has fleas. We thought we got rid of them a few weeks ago, but they have returned. Here’s what we have done so far: gave the dog a shower with Natural Care Flea and Tick shampoo. Then we applied a dosage of Front Line to her back. I’m planning to spray the backyard with Cutter later today if it doesn’t rain. I bought some of the Vets Best Flea and Tick home spray. Sprayed the dog best outside. Right now we have the dog sitting in the garage. I’m afraid to use any bombs because we have a five month old baby.

Bravecto. I used the spot treatment before without good results. I switched to Bravecto and haven't had any problems since. It's also once every three months so much less hassle.

Bravecto. Give with a full meal.

It takes 3 months to fully break the life cycle of fleas. The adults you see are only 10% of the population. The rest are eggs and larva. If you have other pets, they need flea prevention also.

If you have a problem in your house, you probably need to call a pest control company.

Damn. You people have some super fleas. We just bombed the house twice, treated the dogs and the yard and were good. No problems for years.

Spray the house with DemonWP And a double wide band around the house and up the outer wall. Flea proof your dogs, we use Revolution.

Spray again in two weeks and again two weeks later. No more bugs, ever. Touch up when you see a bug through the years.

If you have fleas in the yard, call a pro. That takes some doing.

I would get the dog a capstar - will kill the ones on him very quickly, get him on bravecto, and then get your yard professionally treated. If you're getting fleas on you in the house - they're biting your 5 month old too - inside needs professional treatment too in that case.

There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that Frontline doesn't work very well. Most vets around here refuse to sell it and don't carry it.

Comfortis or Trifexis which also includes the heart worm treatment both take are of flees. For a collar the Bayer Seresto works well.

Given the dog two baths with flea killing shampoo and shampoo for flea induced itching. The day after her last bath she still had fleas on her butt. Sprayed the backyard with Cutter so we will see how that goes. Poor dog is still biting herself.

This is from a vet. Get back and let us know after you have taken his advice.

Don't spend a lot of money on expensive flea soaps just buy you some regular Dawn dish soap and lather her up good all the way down to her skin and it will kill every flea on her. Leave it on 5-10 minutes then rinse her off

That's what I use and it works great. Couple of brewers yeast tablets in their food seems to help too.

Be sure to soak her to the skin before applying Dawn and rinse at least twice to avoid skin irritations. Poor Dewey had a bad reaction the first time he got Dawned. Through rinsing prevents it.

Once you get fleas you really need to use something that ends the reproduction cycle. Either a spray or oral medication. Oral works best.
You can spray weekly while the dog is on oral med. I don't use oral meds all they time, just during hunting season and when I see fleas. Once the cycle is broken the dogs go off the oral meds.

So would Bravecto be safe to give her since I applied her front line treatment about a week ago?

I don't have fleas. We spray the yard and the dogs get Ivermectin once a month on the first. Never had fleas and don't expect any.

I believe so. You'll have to get Bravecto from your vet so would be a good question to ask them.

Vet gave her a steroid shot and Bravecto. Hopefully she’ll feel better soon.

I'm betting you will be happy with the Bravecto. I know your dog will thank you.
