Who's used them? I have a small repair job in a travel trailer. Will be kind of tight under the sink in cabinet and wondering which tool I should buy. I think I can make most of the assembly and only have 2-3 connections to crimp once under sink. I've never worked with this stuff, but it doesn't look like something I couldn't handle. Home Depot rents a tool kit that includes a cutting removal tool, so I could reuse fittings. Any guidance, pointers and instructions would be appreciated.

They also sell some push on friction fit type fittings that work well. I used them a few times when I lived in a mobile home in college and never had any problem with them. Just cut flush, clean the edges and push right on the end of the pex you can get them with multiple kinds of other ends to hook to pvc etc.

Buy Shark Bite fittings and be done with it. Installs easily with no problems what soever. There are pricey but very easy to use with no tools to buy. I did my whole shop from the well to all the fixtures, simple and easy. It is kinda like Leggos, can be used over and over.

If I just had a few pieces I would do shark bite as recommended. Especially in the tight area.
If you insist in side crimp there are two brands. Shark bite that the box stores sell and zurn that supply houses sell. After chasing parts and pieces all over the place I can guarantee you and would bet the bank that zurn is making shark bite or very unlikely vise versa. Either way the side crimp tool is like a third of the price at Lowe's or home Depot.

Local Pawn shop, found an Apollo kit, four jaws, case, gauge, $30.00. Tried it on a few of the old pieces. Easy enough. I made most of the assembly here, will finish it on site and may have to use one Sharkbite to complete it. Wish I had one of these long time ago.

I bought the crimping tool and cutters at HD. Only used on one job, maybe a doxzen fittings, but now have if I ever need again. Easy process and no issues with crimps to date - 3 years.

Don't use Sharkbites on soft cooper is not made for it, it ends up leaking You have to use the insert that goes in the end of the pipe before you slip the shark bite on any soft piping The only "soft piping" you can use SB on is pex. Hard copper and cpvc are your only other options. RR is correct in his statement.

I removed the water tubing in my trailer under the sink where it was chewed through by a rat I guess. Took it to Home Depot and they suggested Shark Bite as well. They matched up the ID with the right SB connectors. Has worked like a charm for years now.

I've repiped the attic to my house to PEX by myself. It was old corroded galvanized piping (pin hole leaks were forming everywhere and destroyed a bathroom ceiling)
Took me about 14 hours total due to having to crawl around and cut old piping. I could see why plumbing companies wanted $10,000 for the attic alone.
I went with PEX because the tap water in Katy is pretty corrosive. Everyone I spoke to that had PEX in my area informed they have not had any issues.
Because cost was a very big issue at the time, I used the copper crimp sleeves with practically every fitting that I had access to with the large crimping pliers you get. Then I used the push-in Sharkbite fittings that were hard to access. Those push-in crimping fittings are pretty expensive.
This was 18 months ago. No problems since then and I have better water pressure too.
