Fortunately, air rifles are not on the list. Yet!

Glad my county missed the new mule deer antler restrictions. Will be interesting to see the effect they have in Briscoe, Childress, Cottle, Floyd, Motley, and Hall counties.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

Just giving the manufacturers more time to ramp up their production line.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Most counties have a late season muzzle loader season so it comes out the same.
Doesn't matter how long the season lasts, you stil can only take the regular limit in your county, unless MLD.

I find the minimum spread requirements interesting. We have antler point restrictions in some areas and they have helped with better buck quality and buck/doe ratios. Lower numbers of young bucks are taken under them. They do however allow those ugly 2 and 3 pts to stay in the breeding pool. They usually run them for 3-4 years up here then lift them.

I wonder why spread restrictions and not antler point restrictions? It is much easier to count points than estimate spread, for me anyway , and for those who never hardly hunt mulies how will they know how wide those ears are?
I hope it helps the deer herds.

From my understanding they found that the spread had a better correlation to age than the number of points. We've had the width restrictions in our area for about 10 years and while they were very unpopular at first I think they've been a good thing. Lot more older bucks and the buck/doe ratio is much better, best guestimate is that before we were probably more than 10 to 1 on the ratio and now we see a buck for every 4 or 5 does.
