Was sitting in the deer blind one afternoon in November last year and had my cameras like always. Neighbor to my south had cleared quite a bit of regrowth huisache in some pastures and other brush/trees in/around an old set of cow pens. They were still clearing around the old pens and decided to light and burn several large brush piles. These were about 1100-1200 yards away from where I was sitting. I was bit concerned about them lighting them since it was pretty dry and we had a stiff breeze when they lit them. Wind had laid down and they came to check them later in the afternoon. The dozer operator moved back over to push up the piles together to make sure they all burned up. I could not get any pics of him on the backside of the burn piles. I imagine it was a bit warm on that side with the breeze blowing that direction and all the ash when he backed up. Fires did back burn a bit into the wind but he back drug the area to make sure they were out. There was a road not to far from the piles and a lot of cleared areas to keep the fire from spreading.

That is a good way to catch a dozer on fire. A few years ago a neighbor had a dozer operator burning some cedar piles and some burning sticks got into the belly pans which were quite oily. The belly pan oil and grease and whatever else was in it caught on fire. Luckly there was a stock tank nearby and he ran the dozer off into it and got the fire out. That reminds me I need to get a fire extinguisher.

As dry as it is around here, I wouldn't even think of an outdoor fire.
