A pair of land transactions in opposite corners of Texas promise to expand the amount of public lands and public hunting, along with fishing and other outdoor recreation opportunities in the state.

The transactions will protect almost 20 square miles of some of the most critically imperiled wildlife and fisheries habitat in Southeast Texas and add 25 square miles of Rio Grande-bordering Trans-Pecos landscape to the state’s largest wildlife management area.

I do get excited every year when it's time to apply for the hunts. I have been disappointed about half the time by not getting picked but the times I do get picked make up for it. I'm all about public hunting and seeing new areas of Texas. Meet some really good people along the way and create memories with others. It can be exhausting, dirty, bad weather, but worth every minute.

Thai is the best synopsis of TX public hunting I have read in a while. I love it and was giddy like a school girl when I checked the site this morning and saw they were up (before email was sent lol)
