Got the scale in March and the rebate today. With the rebate, the scale was $350.

Works well no complaints.

It's a hell of a deal on an awesome scale...add the autotrickler.com trickler and drop then you have yourself a poorman's Prometheus.

Congrats on the purchase SCDM.

Wouldn’t mind a Prometheus but a) I don’t shoot enough and b) if you have to ask... you can’t afford it

I have tried several digital scales in the last few years to replace the mechanical bar scales I have used for nearly 40 years, but have found none that work very well for very long. The unit you discussed- FX 120i-is expensive, and I am interested in your thoughts whether that is the expense you need to put forth in order to get a reliable unit, or whether there are worthy scales for less money?

I have a Chargemaster as a primary scale and weigh it off on the FX-120 with the AutoTrickler to finalize the weigh ins. I like them and they are accurate to the kernel.

I believe the Chargemaster by RCBS was one of the scales I tried, but it does not look like the Rangemaster uses the same scale. Maybe it is better, but if you found a need to buy the FX120, that seems to indicate it isn't reliable enough. I shoot a variety of range and hunt, but I always want to load for precision, just because. But, slipping money by the wife isn't easy, so keeping costs down is helpful.

The Chargemaster weighs to .1 grain and the FX 120 is to the .02 grain. If its just range and hunting loads you are doing, then a Chargemaster will suffice.

He convinced me. I found a package deal of scale, and trickler. Then a friend of Judd's was selling the thrower. Sunday, the thrower, and trickler threw charges to exact measure, and by the time I was done seating a bullet, it was ready for the next.

Now I'm back to Chargemaster speed, but much more precise charges.

OK, thanks for the input. It was the Rangemaster I tried previously which gave me trouble (and a couple of other digital scales), but I will give the Chargemaster a try. It is a newer version and hopefully more reliable.
