Found him yesterday afternoon. Probably a female with pups. She packed off the back half of him.

What about a couple of those big white dogs that guard sheep and goats?

I'm with you DonK, I kill every one I see. I might, maybe, be making a dent after 4.33 years, since I'm seeing more whitetail, finally.

Sorry for your loss.

I tried that a couple of years ago. The Ibex would not get used to him. They would beat the crap out of him if he got too close. Then when they started kidding he killed one of the kids. He is no longer with us.

Llamas are better with goats and aggressively go after predators.

That sucks, I hate all predators. I was told a couple of donkeys will keep the coyotes run off. Forrest

I've been seeing llama or alpacas at some of the local cattle operations hanging with the calf(s)

My sister has a llama and the coyotes still get her sheep. We had a donkey and when the ewes started lambing the donkey stomped on the lambs and killed some. Nothing works as good as getting rid of the problem. It works for a while until the next problem shows up. Most of the time you just see signs of the problem and you deal with it. Then like what just happened them problem showed up before any signs were seen.

This is a pretty rough story, but effective, if it's even true.

Guy raised Boer goats. Staked one out, with a collar, he hid in the weeds. The goat will eventually start screaming in distress. Let the first coyote come, call, kill the goat, and begin eating. Shoot the coyote, others will come, and repeat the shooting. Allegedly the guy bagged 7 coyotes off one goat sacrifice.

Years ago you could get collars that had little pouches in it that you could inject 1080 into. You put the collar on either sheep or goats. The coyote would bite the collar and get 1080 in its mouth and kill it.Only problem how do you know which animal the coyote is going after?

The state trappers use fence snares as their “go to” method.

I also use snares as one of my tools. Problem is when you find a hole under the fence to put a snare in the coyote has already come in. Sometimes that first time is too late.

I watch a donkey stomp then sit on a calf one time. Unfortunately the donkey succumb to natural causes the next week

1080 is still used in New Zealand

I know a guy that did the same thing with a chicken, he said worked great.

Allegedly greyhounds work well for going after coyotes. No idea whether they would leave your livestock alone though.

We had decent-to-even-great luck, with Pyrennes. Our first bitch was a worker, you'd hear her at all hours of the night in various pastures working. Some of her pups were above average, as was a male we got from a friend. We tried two donkeys but they were worthless.

I HATE coyotes.
