Does anyone know who sells 50# bags of whole cotton seed around the Seymour Texas area?

I bought bulk from the O' Brien Coop Gin. Take a tarp lay it in the back of your truck or trailer and have them put as much as you want on it.
Good Luck!

We have 10 tons delivered around jan, $160ish a ton. Can see this being cost efficient being bagged, might as well by protein pellets.

Call the area cotton gins. But your best bet is too buy in bulk, either delivered in bulk or you get by the pickup load.

Will a spin feeder throw this? No Probably be a little hard on the motor trying to spin if it even got down that far.

Will a spin feeder throw this? No Probably be a little hard on the motor trying to spin if it even got down that far. It will not flow thru a gravity feed protein feeder. There was a de-lented and coated WCS that was bagged in Mississippi IIRC that would flow in some free choice feeders. They coated it with a mineral package added to the coating.

Post rut it is a very good supplement if you are set up to handle it and have the equipment to put it out. It is labor intensive on a large ranch with a lot of feed stations. It is cheaper than protein pellets but lacks a good mineral and trace mineral package. Minerals to me are more important that protein value in South Texas. Post rut is the most important time to get bucks back into great shape for them to start the antler growth again, whether it be from WCS or protein pellets. Not sure if the savings on cost makes up for the lack of minerals and added labor in the long run. Spring to Sept the protein(if they are not getting it naturally) and the minerals are more critical. Talked to a friend in South Texas who told me he did not get a spring green up due to lack of rain late winter into spring. Protein was filling that void till it started to rain the last couple of weeks. I have kicked around adding WCS to my feed pens this year for the first time, but I have food plots(if I get the average rainfall) and year round protein so I have not added so far.

I had 1.3" to 1.5" here at home here last night, that is going to help for a week or so. Going to finally get all of the seed up in my food plots that did not sprout or sprout then die. I had a good spring green up here that was holding on well till 10 days ago. Only .3" in northern Live Oak county though and it did green up there but has been looking bad for the last month now.
