Best place in DFW to buy one? Mine is tired, and I want a 16 foot tandem axle that is light enough i can pull it behind my UTV when needed. 16 foot with gate/ramp built in, tandem axle with brakes. Prefer weight around 1,500 or 1,600 lbs.

Thoughts on where to buy, and not overspend?

I have/had three Tiger trailers, out of Mt Pleasant. The third one, I called them directly, told them exactly what I wanted, and they built it for me in a couple weeks. Once it was done, they let me know the next time they were driving to Sulphur Springs, and we worked out a time to meet to do the paperwork. Saved me an extra two hours of driving.

Really good quality trailers, and great people to work with. I'd definitely do the LED light upgrade.

I've also got a Big Tex, and won't ever buy another. Their quality has gone to pot, in my opinion, and they're banking on their name to sell any more.

380 Trailer in Princeton was good for me. Priced out a few places and they were in line and had a good selection on site.

I recently (last year) ordered a 20ft from AAA trailers in Honey Grove (Bonham) where all the Mennonites build trailers. I think there are 7 different manufacturers in that area. I probably saved $1500 because of how i ordered it...Steel Floor, mesh Sides, etc....
My next one will be what you are talking about but it needs to be Aluminum, so you can Haul your ranger on it and then hook it up and use it for delivering feed etc....gotta go aluminum...looks like around $3k if it is outfitted correctly.

I looked for several months. Finally settled on a CenTex trailer from Grandview Sales and Service. It was well worth the 5+ hour drive to get it. I saved lots of money versus buying one in my area. Easy transaction, too - 30 minutes tops.

Kearney in Emory Tx has a 16’ with a gate that they call a med duty. The frame is slightly smaller angle iron than their normal trailer. It’s still a better trailer than a Big Tex. It is rated at #4000 so no trailer brakes required.

X2 for Grandview trailer sales. Ive bought two trailers from them and if I was needing a third it would be with them.

Bought last one at AAA as well. I have 5 trailers from various builders and I can say that AAA makes a decent trailer for the money. Not a Cadillac, but nice. Comes standard with LED's, diamond plate fenders, spare, etc. They also offer a cash discount. Saved quite a bit over the metroplex dealers.

Reading the garbage about Big Tex trailers is a bit irritating. I work for them and I do because they make the best trailers for the money you work so hard for. I had my own trailer repair business and went to Big Tex because I see how trailers are made and am still impressed with them. My store sells 1/2 million a month alone in trailers and the amount that we get back is so small is amazing. They are built by real people on assembly lines so are there mistakes made by some clown who is slacking off, sure, but a 3 year warranty, automotive style finish, all LED lighting, boxed in lights, boxed in wiring, Dexter axles, premium radial tires and the size of the steel used is the largest and heaviest in the industry. The # 1 trailer company in the country who also owns CM trailers as well as PJ trailers is #1 for a reason. In the year 2000 there were 2 stores, now there are 68, that growth comes with some issues but growth like that comes from treating people right and making a great product. To compare a Centex to a Big Tex is absurd.

That an opinion about your product doesn't match yours doesn't make it garbage. As soon as I can go a year without a major repair on my big tex, I'll be the first to admit it. But until then, I'll be glad to warn others with my experience.

I have a 14' Big Tex and love it. The only issue I have with them is the wiring harness, which of course is outsourced.

We have 20 Big Tex and PJ’s ranging from a 8’ mower trailer to 40’ dovetails. We run lease roads in the Permian hauling flowback iron 24/7. Aside from bending axles, which is our fault, we have had no issues with the structural integrity of the trailers. There are many great trailer manufacturers out there but Big Tex works great for us day in and day out.

I just went trailer shopping and ended up buying a Big Tex. It was the best built trailer out of all the ones I looked at.
