I am looking to invest in the best value for the dollar handheld searching device and a rifle mounted scope. Can be NV or thermal for both I just need best value for dollar as wife is loosening purse strings for this purchase. BTW she will get as much use of these items as I will. Thank y'all for the help.

I'd be glad to throw out some suggestions but honestly, I think we need some sort of a total budget estimate for the project. You could spend as little as $550 on a Sightmark Photon RT digital NV rifle scope, $50 on a set of rings and buy the new Sightmark Signal digital NV monocular for $399 and be set. That would be around $1,000.

If you want thermal an entry level scope is going to run you $1,900-$2,500 and a decent thermal monocular will run you $1,700-$2,500.

Without knowing your budget it's going to be hard to make any really good suggestions on what they best value is. For some people the best value is all digital and that fits their budget and needs. For other guys, they have a thermal budget and will never be satisfied with digital NV. Not trying to be nosy, but I think we just need a little more info to really offer good advice.

Your looking at around 5500.00 total cost.

You will have buyers remorse if you spend half that on night vision unless your hunting with bolt guns and small groups of hogs at distances of 100 yards or less.

What OLG said.. If you're funds limited, a Photon scope, a used Thermal spotter (I would not buy a NV spotter) and you're in the game for $1,000-$1,500.

I'm in the same spot as wtjim. Looking to get into something for my 10 yo son to shoot pigs at night. Was thinking a hand held thermal for spotting and green light and red dot for shooting. Most will be at a feeder and less than 100yrds.

I've been using my FLIR PTS233 for spotting and shooting. Nice small compact unit with ADM QD mount standard. I just take it off my gun spot until I find something then pop the QD on the gun and shoot. So far the optic has returned to zero every time and I've had it off the gun probably 100 times already.

Better look at the optic and how small of a package it is. This is on an 8" 300BLK SBR.

Kyle did a fantastic job of scaring the chit out of the rest of the sounder after the first shot lol. I am really liking that Pts 223 and that is a good recommendation.
