For the second yr. I had the pleasure of hunting way deep near Catarina, Texas for javelina and hogs with a bow. Strange how I could enjoy a hunt so much just for those 2 animals, but with stick and string there is nothing like it.

We hunt over feeders but our main hunt is corning senderos and spot and stalk. It's a blast and I enjoy and will say it is one of my top notch hunts. I will say this as well. The Trans-Pecos has javelinas, but it is NO WHERE close to the numbers in deep South Texas. They are in herds in the area we hunt.

Looking forward to go back. BTW, did I connect? Yep 2 for 2. I shot 2 and lost both of them. First yr with a trad bow but I will try again for sure. Enjoy.

One of his 2 javis and he also shot a couple of hogs

Hick up number 2

While looking for number 2 I came across this within yards of my arrow. It had been shot back in January and not found.

Sendero

I can never get tired of this

Just want to say thank you for inviting me and Mrs. B on the hunt, we had a great time. I'd forgot how much I liked south Texas. Never took my bow out of the case but had even more fun just hunting with Mrs. B. If the rest of my life is spent gutting and guiding for her I'll be a happy man. Let me know when you can get free and we'll try some hog's with the re-curves, both spots are less than 20 yard shots and nobody's hunted this year. Most of the time they're laying up in the cedars when I pull up. Evening should be the best hunt.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

There is a wide variety of game down there and the brush is so thick in places that you can "wade" around on top of it. When I was a youngster we always had javelinas but very few hogs, now it seems that there are more hogs in much of that country. Predators thrive in that country because of the endless supply of rabbits, rodents and great habitat. Lots of hunting opportunities, just need to do it before it warms up....
Adios,
Gary
