Anyone have one of these 6lb guns?
More specifically anyone hike hills of Colorado for 6 days carrying one?
Gimmie your thoughts?
Not looking for a SUB gun. I’m content with 1MOA.
Yes, I’ll be reloading.

Had one in 260 Rem. Amazing accurate and never a problem with it.

If you're a solid hand loader, and a solid shooter, it WILL be a sub-MOA shooter. It's a Savage.

162 gr ELD-X -.005", CCI 200, and +/- 40.0 gr H-Varget

You should have no problem finding a MOA load. If you like 140's, a SGK pushed by +\- 42 gr Varget lit by a WLR primer is a solid load for me. Work up to it. It is just below max in mine. One other noteworthy comment is mine has a fairly short throat.

Let’s talk light glass. NF is just to heavy for the hills.
Many of the instances we’ve come across elk are 300 yds.
I’m fairly proficient in learning my holds and wind.

Given optimal situation (never happens) I’ll dial up and in so solid tension and springs are essential.
My current rifle selection not including rings and glass is 7.5lb.
What’s out there that will keep it at 9lbs with rings & glass?

Talley rings and nikon bdc. Been impressed with the bdc spoton system once you get a load figured out. Great for taking guess work out for normal hunting.
Great rifle too. I have it in 6.5cm.

Unfortunately scopes made to dial, and hold are all, generally, heavy. Dig into some research and look at scope weights. NF SHV 4-16X comes to mind, but I've got no personal experience with them.

Just remembered another option. You're not going to dial, but you can hold. Nikon males a Monarch with a Mil reticle. They have always made pretty dang good glass, I suspect a Monarch will be lighter than a turreted scope.

For light weight, take a look at the Vortex Light Hunter models. Nice glass, if you like the reticles.

If you like it, Amzn is cheaper:

I shoot the ProStaff 5 3.5-14x40mm. It's light and has the mil dot reticle that JG is talking about here. The Monarch is better glass than the ProStaff 5, so that seems solid.
