Based on what's said about this guy in this article, the seizure may have been the right thing to do, but it still makes me nervous. . .

I have real mixed feelings about this law. It places the government more in control, yet it was many levels of government that failed leading up to the FL school shooting....

Ripe for misuse and abuse.....

And that's exactly what makes me nervous, SnakeWrangler. . .

As 2nd amendment supporters we so often say the problem is
societal or a mental health issue, not guns. What happened in
this story addresses just that and I support it.

Shape shifting Bin Laden creatures... If they didn't see the firearms then nothing might have been taken though... Just how far will they go actually enforcing this?

My biggest problem is there are already laws on the books that are not being enforced. News came out over the weekend that the Florida shooter had a school resource officer (the same one that stayed outside) and a couple of councilors recommend him to be involuntarily committed for a mental evaluation....which is legal under Florida law. They can hold someone for evaluation for up to three days. Yet it wasn't acted upon. If it had he would have been "red flagged" and most likely prevented from buying a gun legally.

Just one more "government" failure to utilize/enforce existing laws......

We don't need more laws.....we need these pantywaist sympathetic libturds to quit excusing bad behavior as not the actors fault and enforce the friggin laws we already have in place.

He's adopted....his daddy died.....his mommy died....he was bullied....excuse after excuse after excuse NOT to deal with the real problem.....WTF!

If the FL school shooter had been committed as advised it may have prevented
him from buying a firearm but would not address any firearm he already had.

Yes, current laws need to be enforced but as far as I know there was not a means
of disarming people that are known to have disorders making them dangerous.
Again, any law not enforced is useless.

I do too. As long as this law continues to operate under these circumstances, and doesn’t become abused, I support it. I believe the 2nd amendment is a right for law abiding Americans. Once you become a criminal, you lose that right. If you have made threats or have diminished mental capacity, you may not be trusted to exercise that right.

Except admiting him would have not taken the guns out of his hands. Once he became a vocal, obvious threat to others, you sacrifice your rights.

Nor would it prevent him from buying one illegally..... 2cents

How long have drugs been illegal and how many drug laws are there?

Even though I'm not the one replied to I will type this,
the argument that a law has or will be broken is a weak point
against a sepeperate law that could help. I understand that
any law or ordinance having to do with firearms is going
to be met with obligatory resistance but again, if we're going
to hold mental health rather than firearms accountable then
persons with mental health issues must suffer the consequences.

Why is it even people who “support the second amendment” are ok with taking people’s RIGHTS away? A RIGHT is not something that can be taken away for ANY reason. I don’t think that violent criminals should have weapons, but I also believe that if a person commits the crime, is found guilty through DUE PROCESS, and Finishes the sentence, that persons debt to society is payed. At which time their property, and their rights are restored. The person in this case should have the ability to turn weapons over to a responsible person of their choosing. Not the state. These so called “2A supporters” that want to take guns away first, and then start the fact finding are just jumping on the bandwagon with the left. The system is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. Anyone with eyes and a brain can see it’s the other way around.

Individuals get their rights taken or limited every day for the public good or their own safety.
It's never pleasant or easy.

Being willing to accept this doesn't make a 2nd Amendment supporter any less a supporter.

It's a common sense thing. They can cry me a river when it come to violent offenders. Some people should not have access to firearms. Ever.

The problem, as usual, is extremists.

Some believe firearms should prohibited from everyone.
Some believe firearms shouldn't be prohibited from anyone.

They are both wrong and are THE problem.

Except that if everyone had a weapon the “problem people” would be a lot less of a problem....if no one has a firearm the “problem people” are a much bigger problem.....therein lies the problem!

Chew on that for a while buttercup.....then tell me again “who” is the problem....

Always nice to see the family getting along on Easter weekend.

Buttercup is a term my wife and I use all the time....didn't see it taken the same way you apparently did...sorry you got butthurt over it.....its was meant to be funny...not an attack...most sincere apologies....that said...

My point is, give an inch and they take a mile....and the mile they take does nothing to address the real problem....only to limit the rights of law abiding citizens....there is a long and well documented history of this....

....as to the rest of your comments....my reply is simply....Hope you have a Happy Easter....

I just keep thinking if that one guy who shielded those kids and lost his life, if he had a CC ( which I'm sure his family now would agree with) and dealt with the problem instead of giving his life. What would the story be like now.
