I traded for this upper a while back and now I kind of looking at it like "now what". I'm not really sure what to do with it. Thus, my question. If any of you shoot this round, please let me know what you use it for. It is a very accurate rifle. I have played with some 100gr loads and it shoots them very well. 100gr only because that's what I have. This upper was built for NRA service rifle and has a weighted free floating forend under the hand guard. This was the first time I'd seen this. It does balance well and I can see why it's there. But I don't shoot NRA service rifle. The carry handle is removable. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks!!
Matt

Looks like fun. I thought about getting one, but I have been staying away from wildcat cartridges.

I've considered building a 6x45 several times, just never talked myself into it. I wound up building a 25-45 Sharps which is also just a necked up .223 so I doubt I will ever build the 6x45. Having said that, there is a much better selection of 6mm bullets than .257 caliber that are suitable for the small case capacity. It is a very capable cartridge for varmints, predators and hogs. I only load 70 grain and 87 grain for the 25-45, but something close to the 58 grain 6mm bullet would be really nice to mess with. The Hodgdon load data shows a good variety of recipes for the 6x45.

Been shooting the 6x45 for 10 years or so.
Mostly shot predators but lots of deer and pigs too.
Also have one in a bolt gun and have used it on prairie dogs.
Great round but best with bullets in the 55-85gr range

I have an ar with 1-10 and it's for the wife but I love that gun. Likes 75gr vmax and 70gr smk. If I did another one would go 1-9 at least to use 87gr vmax or 80gr ballistic tips. Great round easy to load for and virtually no recoil plus phenomenal barrel life. Just remember its limitations. Powders 8208, varget, and h335 all produced sub moa groups.

After buying a bolt gun in a wildcat caliber, I will never own an AR in a wildcat caliber.
