And not one person who supports OC cares what you think.

OC was good for an accidental exposure but since it was passed lots of places I used to shop have put up 30-06 and 30-07 signs. Said if they were going to limit one they would limit both.
Personally I think the value was not worth the cost.

Most places I have seen put up signs were for 30.07 not 30.06.

And don’t forget that even with a 30.06 sign in place it is only a class C misdemeanor if you happen to get caught. If you are asked to leave and don’t, then it becomes a criminal trespass.

We all have to make choices.
So, I will always carry concealed and if I am doing it right no one is the wiser.

Yes, of course.

I'm old, but I grew up in Northern California ranch country where more than half of the men (and many women)open carried their revolvers. I was really shocked at how backwards Texas gun laws were, when I moved here.

Times have changed, but a gun on the hip still seems as natural as wearing a hat, to me.

I haven't seen any except at gun ranges and in gun stores, which I don't consider counting, but I assume counts.

I saw a guy in a Dickie's BBQ about a month ago, He was open carrying a 3" 1911.

I think he worked for the local school system judging by the conversation he was having with another guy there.

I saw one guy at United Supermarket in Graham a few months ago. Ask a few people and apparently he was from out of town......

I saw a chump yesterday in Wal-Mart wearing flip flops, short [censored] hugging shorts, a skinny tee and a hot damn tac-belt with a Sig Sauer p226 e2 with an extended mag plate.... open like mofo. I was half way "rock on" half way "for [censored] sake"

I've posted on this topic a number of times on the TFF. My basic rule of thumb has become to dress more professionally if I'm open carrying. A guy in a blazer, button down shirt, and boots looks alot less 'scary' than a dude in a tshirt and cargo pants when each has a visible sidearm.

Most often, I carry concealed, but unless I'm on campus, I rarely worry about how well concealed it is. I know all the arguments about how the bad guys are gonna go after me first. However, I sincerely believe that it's enough of a deterrent to make them look for easier targets.

Do I know that as a fact? No. But most violent criminals are cowards, and really don't want to risk being shot.

I agree, most criminals, if they suspect someone has a gun,are going to look for easier pickings, They want cash, smokes, booze, they aren't interested in a confrontation they might lose.

Saw a guy at Rudy's in Austin today with the grip/handle of a small revolver sticking out of his front right pocket. Looked kind of strange and out of place, didn't appear to be in any type of holster.

I pretty much open carry in my shoulder rig every time I’m out and sometimes around the house. I’ve gotten used to wearing it. Wore it yesterday to lunch and no body appeared to notice.

I'm glad to have someone open carry around me.

Guarantees they will draw the first shot so I have more time to decide what to do.

I think only a kook would show up at a school shooting carrying a gun.

There is no logical reason for a civilian to openly carry a handgun.

Been working at the ranch all day and had to run into town for a quick errand. Instead of kicking off my muddy boots, going inside, removing my sidearm, and then getting on my way, I just jump in the truck and go. Isn't that a logical reason?

I always wear a shirt when out in the public and conceal my weapon by simply pulling the shirt over it. Pretty easy.

If anyone wants to open carry that's just fine and they should. I just don't like drawing attention to myself.

2 years later and open carry is pretty much a ho-hum, who cares? A few authoritarian lefties got their panties in a bunch and nothing else really happened.
