I’d probably build a .223. I like to shoot as cheaply as possible.

.223 Ackley Improved, 1:7.7 twist.

Lapua brass, CCI 450, IMR-8208, 80 gr ELD-M

Soon as my smith finishes chambering, I will have it. I bought a .223 action specifically for this build.

I recently built a 25/45 Sharps on a Remington with a Lawson thumb hole stock.
Haven't shot it yet.
Brass with correct head stamp is available for a reasonable price or just neck up 223.

Sorry, should have said "other then .223" cuz I have three but didn't think about JG and the AI. That would be nice with a heavy bullet and tight twist.

Compare brass price.

Sure the A.I. has to be fire formed. Or, hydro formed if a guy is inclined so.

He would need a new bolt, as well.

Tried to find the bolt face but since there is not many out there, didn’t see anything clearly. I just saw that the parent case is bigger than 223

Would a .22 Creedmoor work with that bolt face?

Same bolt face size as a 6.8 SPC. I looked that up for a friend yesterday that cannot find .224 Valkyrie brass.

As I read (not sure if true) the saami spec is due to be released/approved/certified and brass is not being sold yet. Ammo can be but it’s pretty limited

Makes sense why he cant find any brass. I did a quick look of bolt face diameter and length of 6.8 SPC, and compared it to what SAAMI showed for .224 Valkyrie. I told him to look, and see if he can run the 6.8 through a sizer die. I didn't have time to dig into all the details myself.

He contacted me because Federal ammo was blowing primers and chewing up the case head in his girlfriend's rifle, asking why it was doing that.

I will have a .223 Ackley Improved with a tight twist one of these days. I'm just waiting for a specific individual on here to form lots of Lapua brass for me.

This is my next build. I already have the action and stock. All I need is a good hailstorm and I'll buy the rest.

Yeah, you can add me to that list. I like the possibilities of what you could do with that.

I don't want your wrong-handed rifle, just formed brass so I don't have to. bolt

You know more than I ever will but I thought a .22 creed was a 6.5 necked down to a .22?

You thought correctly, and they all use a larger bolt face than a .223 Remington.
