Well, you heard about the Beretta. I also shot my old Colt Diamondback 22lr and checked the sights. Man, what a sweet pistol, with great accuracy and a smooooth double action. Then shot the Python with 38s and 357s and then the new S&W 686 Plus with 38s and 357s. After I adjusted sights a bit on the 686, both pistols were very accurate in SA. In DA, the Python was easier for me to shoot accurately, but I think that has more to do with my having shot the Python for decades. The 686, in general, felt less smooth, but it is brand new. And I much prefer the target type hammer on the Python. And the Python is prettier.

So, why all the shooting? That’s a reasonable question. Well, this coming weekend the older granddaughters are bringing the boyfriends. Both the girls shoot pretty well, and I know they will want to shoot the Python. They love that pistol. And one of the BFs is a West Point grad and a Captain in the Rangers. And there WILL be a pistol shooting competition, and I want to win. That’s why I checked and adjusted all the pistol sights for my reloads. After we all shoot targets, we always have the One Shot Challenge where you pick your pistol and you get one round. So far, i’ve always won, but every year one of the granddaughters is just a hair out of the money. And this year the Ranger comes to town. I have GOT to be on my game. Can’t let this young Army Captain out shoot this old USMC Sergeant.

Where's the boy from? If he's from the south, he might give you a run for the money. Whoop his posterior!

If I had to win and I wasn't limited in caliber, I'd take my $350 S$W Victory 22LR. It has low recoil and a mechanical accuracy potential of around 1" at 50Y.

I would expect you to win. Your pistols, your loads and your set up sights. That Ranger might give you a run for your money if you invited him to bring HIS pistol for the shooting competition. Have fun!

I just finished up the reloads for this weekend. Everybody will get to practice with all pistols and then choose what one to use for the One Shot Challenge. I can’t pull a sneaky trick on the Ranger. Wouldn’t be right. Anyway, he’ll have to shoot the bullseye out of the target to outdo me. With the recent shooting practice, I already know what pistol i’ll use - the Python with the Colt Custom Shop trigger.

I’ll have to ask him what his duty weapons are these days. Maybe he has the new issue semi and not the M9.

Would like to know this as well. All pictures I've seen of Army SF (not tan berets) while deployed are of Glocks of some kind; jorge on here told me that his cousin in MARSOC also uses Glocks...not sure about the Rangers. The M17/18 was to my knowledge only given to a few Airborne units thus far, but my information is old.

I wonder what ‘the Ranger’ is involved in. We were told by our daughter that no pictures are to be taken of him. I have seen one picture...just one...of him so far.

I’ll see what info I can get on his duty weaponry.
