The question is: "How many does a person need?"

I have 4 kids, 4 grand kids, and 1 great grand kid. As of last night, I only had 6 of the Ruger 10/22's. As of this morning, I placed an order for this baby:

So, by mid week, I'll have 7 of them, (not counting the 2 my wife and I own) and by my count, I'll still be short by 2. My wife thinks I've about maxed out on them, so I'm turning to you folks to give me an honest, unbiased opinion.

Thanking you ahead of time.

I had one, that I fully accurized for myself. My middle son loved it, so I built up and tricked out one for him too. My oldest son, I bought him a takedown for travelling. It was a present for him helping out so much while I was recovering from shoulder surgery. At some point "my" 10/22 got put in a cut down purple stock for my daughter, who was 5 years old at the time. She is 10 now. Finally last fall I realized I was never getting it back, so that is when I built my full blown Kidd 10/22 for me. That makes 4 for the 4 of us.

Currently no grandkids, so I am caught up.

Every person, no matter age, needs a good 22 RF of some kind. Just a good common sense gun rule.

The problem is that somewhere along the way you got behind the power curve and are now having to play catch up. That is never a good position to bargain from. It takes too much negotiating collateral.

Heck, .22s in general fit all the qualifications above. Currently I am collecting .22 SA revolvers for my grand-kids. My kids may be about through having kids (who knows) I have 5 now and another due in May. 10/22s are next. I have a pretty good start on .243 though as I am up to 4 of them. Gotta start em off right.

bronco71, my personal 10/22 is a a target model, and my wife has the take down. I'm still WAY behind the curve so I'll keep piling them into the safe! Thanks to all of you for the encouragement and suggestions! smile

The kids are old enough, but I can't even get them to buy their own booze when they come "home." 3 of the grand kids are old enough, but not inspired to buy anything but apps for their phones and accessories for their cars. The great grand son will be 1 year old in about a week, so maybe I can teach him how to buy ammo. . . wink

Lol and good luck on that one. But he will need at least 1 10-22 if not 2 before he buys ammo.

The Big Brown Truck delivered the new baby right on schedule today! I looked it over, ran a snake through the barrel, checked all the scope mounting screws (the ring screws were a bit loose), selected a few kinds of ammo to try, and will be headed of the range tomorrow morning. I'll be punishing everyone with pics and observations after the range session, so you are forewarned. smirk

I’m still saving some money to buy my first 10/22. Hearing that you guys have multiple 10/22s blows my mind. I’m going for the takedown model.

For years and years, when they were cheap, I used to get two thru my gun shop and donate them to the kids raffle for the RMEF. I have no idea how many I donated, but it was a lot.... I did manage to keep some for myself and my own kids tho. smile
