It's all in getting the priming process.

How did it not blow? I'm guessing seated with the press if you didn't feel it happening.

<<< Been there, done that!

They generally won't pop when seated like that.

I was using the rcbs hand primer. Didn't really notice much as the lapua pockets usually take force to seat. I always look at the case after seating and gave it a "wtf" mainly because it was going to throw my brass and primer lots off by 1.

I have one tray of primers specifically meant for when I screw up a primer...usually from not properly trimming the crimp on fc primer pockets and crushing the primer.

Bevel the primer pocket when new, it's a one-time thing, and that will never happen again no matter what tool or press you use.

Lapua is already beveled enough for my use. I should have paid better attention to tension when seating.

That’s good for single digit speeds, too.

I usually use the Hornady hand primer. I have not seated any on their side. Unfortunately I do admit to multiple seated upside down.

I'm fairly new to reloading; what are we seeing in the picture?

Primer is sideways in the pocket.

Ah, save the money and skip the primer. Fun time to drive all the way out to the range just to have powder trickling out when a round was chambered. This is just hypothetical though...
