I always enjoy your great photos. I like that hay bale style blind in the 3rd pic. Did you build? can you share more info on that blind, more pics?

Thanks!

Thanks!

That blind is a Midwest Haybale blind kit I bought on-line. I have had it for almost 4 yrs now. I needed to replace the hay-straw matte material after two years and did with coconut erosion matte material. That blind was rolled in the hurricane and is bent out of shape a bit. It came with a tarp to wrap the top and then I added plywood on each end, a door on one end and then 2"x4" for the bottom frame. I recovered the whole blind this year with black construction plastic, then put a black erosion/weed barrier cloth over that. Then covered it with the coconut erosion matte material. With the black plastic, black erosion cloth and coconut material I purchased I had enough to do 3 blinds total, so I built 2 more out of cattle panels and lumber. I think I have $175 in the plastic, cloth and matte. Then used scrap lumber for the rest. I will pick up the blinds this week and store them under a shed to get more years out of the coconut matte material. Here is a pic of the Midwest Haybale blind from 3.5 yrs ago and then this year.
The first two pics are from 2014 when I first put it out and then in 2015.

This pic is after I moved it and the hurricane repair.

These pics are cell phone pics from this past season. They blind work very well and deer get used to them very quickly. These deer are all less than 20 yards and some are 10 yards away. I back these blinds into x-fenceline corners or into thick brush pockets to protect my downwind side.

Thanks. I plan to build a couple using cattle panels & lumber. The black plastic and erosion coverings obviously keep you blacked out inside. I had not thought of the coconut material covering, great idea.

They do that and keep your scent under control if you get swirling winds. They also provide a dark backing if your straw or erosion matte is thinner material. Can get hot if you do not put the blind in shade though. This is where I get my coconut material from. They also carry several types of materials and sizes. I use the one with 3 yr life netting so it holds up to weather conditions much longer. I can get 4 blinds wrapped out of one roll of this material. https://www.amleo.com/coconut-erosion-control-blanket-8ft-x-113ft-roll/p/C4000/

Thanks and yes I do enjoy using that lens. I bought that lens back in 2008(when it was cheap...er sick than what it is today eeks333) and really enjoy using it. I have done 7 or so "coffee table" books of pictures over the past 10 yrs using MyPublisher. But when they sold out to Shutter Fly, I have not done any since they stopped making albums/books/gifts. They had much better quality and pricing than Shutter Fly by a long shot.
