Forgive me if this has been brought up previously, and I don’t even have the rifle yet. I’ll get it in 22lr, and i’ll use it in the yard, which is really a pasture. Distances to the edges of the woods are max about 120 yards. With the semi-rainbow bullet path, I want either turrets and FFP or CDS on a Leupold. I’m leaning toward a VX3 4.5-14 with CDS. I assume that Leupold can supply me with a CDS dial for 22lr, once I decide on which ammo. But, I do have an extra Vortex Viper PST FFP in 6-24, but that seems like massive overkill for a 22rifle scope. Opinions? Suggestions?

What is the lowest the Viper's parallax will go down to?

grin

I figured it was the same one.

According to Vortex it only goes down to 50 yds. If that will work for you, mount it up! and post a picture!

I am waiting on one of these from SWFA, for a .22lr. I don't think it is FFP, though.

6-24 is overkill if you are shooting varmints and cans. It might not be overkill if you intend to squeeze one hole groups out of the rifle. I have a 4-12 Nikon Prostaff 7 in 30mm tps rings on my wife’s 10/22. I don’t feel like it’s over kill, but a lot of the old fudds think anything over a 4x fixed power scopenis overkill on a .22

Are you planning on holding everything and not messing with the moa adjustments?

It also comes in Mil adjustments, with Mil reticle, or I wouldn't give them any of my money.

That PST would be fine, but 6x is a really high bottom end for a rimfire.

I have been running a Bushnell AR 223 3-9x40 scope on my 10/22 and I actually am pretty happy with it. Adjustments are not 100% accurate, but they're pretty good. Optical clarity is good considering the $99 price tag. Adjustable parallax has been easy to set. I've got some pretty impressive groups at 50 yards with it. But a $99 scope for a top-end rimfire isn't really what I would go with.

The Athlon Midas BTR 3-15 is on sale right now for $389. That would be a strong contender for me.

Patriot, I had not considered Athlon, and 3-15 power would be perfect. I’ll google it. Thanks.

Can't get the link to work, just go to cameralandny.com and search BTR Midas

I think what I’m going to do is to move my Vortex Viper PST 4-16 FFP to the T1x from my Tikka 260 and buy a Leupold for the 260. The Leupold choice is likely to be either the VX3 in 4.5-14x40 CDS or the VX5 3-15 CDS with the illuminated dot. That illuminated dot is a good thing to have in dim light when shooting black hogs. I really like that Vortex 4-16, but the illuminated crosshair isn’t very useful, and every now and then I need a little help in dim light.

When the Vortex 6-24 was in the shop, I put an old VariX-III 4.5-14 with the varmint hunter reticle on the 223, and I think I’ll leave it there. Now I have no rifle for the Vortex 6-24. Oh well...

PST 4-16 is a good scope for that gun.

I agree that the "extra scope" problem is imminently solve-able.
