I just wanted to share this neat idea. Using a hook blade on a utility knife works great for skinning deer and hogs. I have found it is very helpful in cutting the hide around and up the legs and making the Y cuts down the hams and to the chest. Have also found it very useful in cutting the hide off of hogs. You can do this by dividing the back in half or thirds and cutting strips that will make it easier to get that thick hide off. These blades are super sharp and feels like a hot knife in butter. Give it a try!

Interesting. I have the Dewalt version of that knife, and i’ll use the hook blade on the next hog I skin. Thanks for the tip (no pun intended).

It also works pretty good for skinning catfish.

That will work well. I have been using a Wyoming Knife or gut hook since about 1990.

If you don't want to save the skin, it's a better mousetrap. It's also quite fast.

I’ve had one for a couple of years now and would hate the thought of working on a pig without it. When you remove cutting hide and hair from the equation, your other knives will go forever without needing to be sharpened. With the hook blade carpet knife, I no longer carry a steel or a stone in my hunting backpack
We all need to practice Whoa more.
