I've been looking at Ar10/308AR's. Initially was looking at Palmetto State but some of the reviews have me second guessing.
I'm looking for a decent entry level gun that is accurate enough to drop a deer or pig out to around 200yds or so.
Was looking at DPMS or Smith and Wesson. If I get one of these, I would probably change out the hand guard to a free floating (M loc or key mod type hand guard with low profile gas block)
So, who has either DPMS or M&P 10 (the sport has a 16" barrel). Are they decent enough guns for what I'm looking to do with them? Which one would you recommend and why?
I've been research this quite a bit lately and they both seem like decent entry level guns,

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you think you are going to make changes I’d avoid it. Google is your friend but I think a lot of the MP 10is proprietary. It kept me from buying one.

Well Crap. I was not aware that they were proprietary. What did you end up getting? I may just go get the DPMS 308 then and add some stuff to it then.
Thanks for the reply!

Hogz, I haven't bought one yet, I've just been using my 6.8. I wanted a deer and hog gun with some thump but between the weight and losing one place to hunt I haven't really shopped hard. If I was going to buy one tomorrow I'd look at the DPMS Recon G2 or Savage MSR-10, both are over 1.5lbs lighter than most AR-10s. If weight wasn't a problem I'd have no qualms buying a PSA for cheap. If you catch them on sale you can have the two PSA halves for ~$570 total.
