I've used Elk Castle on the west side of Fort Worth several times in the past and I've always been satisfied. I don't know if they still have the same people, but when I used them they were very competent and fair.

They have my browning buckmark right now. I’ll report how my experience was. I’ve used Alamo precision in hurst for a cut and crown and they were excellent.

I feel the same about Alamo. I am in no way saying the work they do is bad. Just that one of the employees is a know it all and assumes the customer knows nothing. I was really turned off. Customer service is important to me. I don't like being treated like I'm ignorant of a subject.

They are the only authorized Browning service center on this side of the metroplex. This is a brand new browning and if it had to go back to the manufacturer, they can take care of that. The guys in there were nice and treated me well. They were great when I called the other day. I don’t have a complaint yet, but I’d have taken it to somewhere closer if I could have.

I have used Alamo for my precision items, ONLY because I feel the understand it better. But all of my minor stuff and threading goes to Paul at Driving Nails in Azle. Paul can do full builds of anything you want but Jason was a better fit for me at Alamo.

That being said, Paul fitted a barreled action into my son's AICS chassis, threaded 2 of my ARs, cerakoted 3 rifles and completely built my buddy's 338rum

I called him 2 years ago and he was really rude and short with me on the phone. I called to get a price on a simple cut and crown and not only was he over twice as expensive as what Alamo did it for, he acted like he didn’t want the business. Alamo did it for $75 and he quoted somewhere around $175 as I recall.

I use to go to Elk Castle and dealt with John Robertson. He passed away I was told.
I need some work on a pistol, and a rifle. I also have a couple of guns I would like refinished.
I appreciate the input.

John was the main one I dealt with. Heck of a nice guy and a great gunsmith. I even had two guns I took to him at different times that turned out to be quick, easy fixes. He didn't charge me for either one. I hate to hear he passed away.

That's not his style.

I’ve always heard great things about Trammel.
