I've watched many of his videos. He has excellent instructional videos on long range shooting and scope reviews. The videos can be long but he is extremely unbiased and thorough in explaining everything.

He is an excellent resource. Check out is Youtube channel if you get a chance.

At 6:45 in the video, it lists the 7.62 NATO 150 grain ball ammo at 1000 and the 308 Win 168 SMK at 1100. Horse manure! That list is hog wash!

Most 168 SMK ammo is done by 800-900 yards (generally before this distance) and 150 grain FMJ to 1000, no way! I stopped watching at this point. That's the difference between actual field shooting experience and running numbers on paper.

I believe the video was made for the beginner. He is taking them through a methodical approach to choosing an appropriate round based on the mission parameters. The beginner will likely have to look at published data to eliminate some rounds. I think its a little harsh to claim the guy doesn’t know what is he talking about because 6 minutes in you don’t agree with one line on a chart that is more about methodology. You are an experienced long range shooter so this likely would be too elementary for you but he takes the beginner through many modules that build on each other.

I see both opinions, but LR shooting isn't cheap and most people try to save money at least I do. A lot take the internet as gospel too. Kind like kids and thinking Wikipedia is a credible source. I went 308 when I first got into it LR and quickly realized 800+ yds became very tough not only because of skill but the difficulty became compounded because of cartridge selection. Can people make hits all day with a 308 and 15mph cross wind yep, but more people can't then can. The problem with bad or not properly presented info is how money can be wasted quickly and people's assumptions. It leads to Individuals buying a bunch of gear beforehand then being disappointed because it isn't the best fit or doesn't work like what they saw on you tube. With that said know guys who can take a 308 to 1200yds with little difficulty but they are far better than avg joe. I think guys like one in the YouTube are helpful but common sense need be applied. I guarantee anyone would get far more value just going to one LR match and talk with the shooters It's just easier to pull up YouTube on the couch.

His info is a bit dated and has been pointed out by a few more well known instructors.

Guy was recently drug through the coals on facebook over some bs claims over some new action sponsors.

I have watched a number of his videos. I feel they are informative. Most of the stuff he talks about I already have a good understanding of. One thing I can give the guy credit for is he's not a salesman. Many videos on youtube are trying to sell me something, usually indirectly but nonetheless. I feel anyone who uses a sole source of info to aid in decision making is making a mistake.

I'm glad there's videos that can show you some comparison on some calibers. But the real world results can be very different. And a lot depends on launch speed of the bullet and twist rate of the barrel. But, anyone who says a 168 SMK is good to 1100 yards tells me immediately that their data is far off from reality. Most 168 SMK's in normal length 308 barrels (22"-24"), the bullet is done by about 700-800 yards.

Just last weekend a guy on the tower at Rifles Only was tumbling his 175 SMK's out of his 20" 308 at 1000 yards. He was all over the berm at 1K, and the bullet was out of control. We noticed some squirrellyness happening at 900 with it also, and 1000 yards was done. I was running my 178 A-max 308 ammo slower than his 175's and making solid hits and corrections. He was running a 1:12" twist Accuracy Int rifle, and my ammo was the 178 A-max and running SLOWER than his 175 SMK ammo. When he switched to my 178's with my dope on his rifle, he was making hits and missing slightly right and left due to wind. (I'm not exactly sure why, honestly, since the 178 A-max should have a slightly less BC and I'm launching them slower).

My point is, it's not black and white when you run theoretical ballistic calculations. And if someone is calculating them with a G1 BC out to max range, the data would be even more false. So, if the data calculated is wrong, the video with the information in it would also be wrong.

In some of his videos he's promoting IOR scopes....There are better options.....

Could be. Nonetheless, that too is an opinion.
