Hello everyone - looking to get a few suggestions if you will be so kind...

Looking to get a comfortable conceal carry that I can rely on. Looking to carry in the small of my back, inside the waistband, based on my daily clothing choice. Looking to get a single stack for slim profile.

Any particular handgun you suggest me checking out? 9mm is the minimum caliber I want to carry.
Also, what particular type of IWB holster do you suggest? Since it will be with my daily, I want it to be very comfortable!

Thanks!

I am open to other carry location options, but for work, would need to keep it inside the waistband.

Shield in a Sticky Holster....most comfortable I've used by far. Mine feels great at 4-5 o'clock, I don't even take it out when I get in/out of the vehicle.

I usually carry a sig p238 (.380 auto) and if for some awful reason that wont work for one reason or another I carry a NAA .22 revolver. one of those "I guess its better than nothing" guns. I've been looking into a baby glock or M&P or maybe even one of the little springfield XD. From my limited experience on IWB carry is the holster is almost as important when it comes to the comfort side of things. To me the expensive leather styles end up being bigger and bulky compared to the cheaper fabric holsters.

George,

The easiest way is to go to a range that rents pistols and try one out that you think you will like. Often times shooters will buy a pistol and it turn out not at all what they "want". Try them and then make a decision. Holster wise, you will go through about 2-3 of them before you find the one you truly like. Buy several that fit the pistol you purchase.

I have carried a few, and the one I carry the most is my sig p938. Single stack, thin, 9mm, all the same functions as a 1911. I prefer to carry OWB in a el paso saddlery pancacke holster with my shirt untucked. I also carry in a desantis softuck at 3:00. carrying the softuck as I type as a matter of fact. But, as Chad said, every person is different on what they prefer to carry. See if you can shoot and handle as many as you can before settling on one to carry.

I really like my glock 43. Some people don't like glocks but they are really reliable and I can shoot it really well. Very easy to conceal. Best thing to do though is go to a range that rents them with a large selection and try them out.

It's different for everyone. Agree wholeheartedly with what Chad said. Go rent a few, and holster's will be trial and error until you decide what works best.

This is my fav for summertime carry. IWB Bladetech. Appendix.

I prefer an EAA Witness compact in .40 or 10mm. I use a Crossbreed Supertuck IWB on my side behind my side pocket. Tried an IWB rear carry but was not comfortable sitting.

Best advice, I'm a big fan of the Crossbreed Minituck and Supertuck holsters made with horsehide.

I carry a Kahr PM9 it's very comfortable.

Case and point on "you'll have to try a bunch of different holsters" I love my softuck. I suggested it to a friend, and he hated it.

Check out the Glock 43 and the Kahr PM9/PM40 for sure. I have both. If you were local would be happy to let you shoot them.

As for holsters, it's going to be a lot of trial and error. I hate the Crossbreed style holsters. Best I've found in that style is the Stealthgear version, but still don't like it. I find the most comfortable to be the plain old kydex with a single clip similar to what Janie posted. Mine is made by Vedder which allows you to adjust the cant.

I find the most comfortable place to carry when standing to be small of back like you suggest or appendix, but both suck for sitting. I end up with the Glock 43 in the Vedder at about 4:00 as the best of both worlds for standing/sitting and pocket carry an LCP when I have to be extra discreet.

As Chad said, try rental pistols at the range before buying based on feedback from this forum. Regarding how you carry and holsters. I would not go cheap on holsters and select a carry method that'a comfortable so you'll carry all the time. I have a good IWB and OWB holster so I can have options. I will tell you that I tried the SOB carry and hated it. I carry at 3:00 with my IWB and OWB holsters. Long drives with a pistol digging into the small of your back is no fun. In addition, getting to your SOB holster while seated isn't very convenient or fast.

Great advise everyone - thanks! My intention if definitely to have some range rental time before I purchase. Will do some research into various holsters and their carry locations to see what works best for me...really appreciate the suggestions! Feel free to throw out more if anyone wants to! up

The 2 holsters I use are the Crossbreed (Super Tuck or Mini Tuck) for a large frame Glock (G20, G21, G29), and a Comp-Tac Minotaur MTAC Holster (Glock 23). I like the Minotaur holster better, since it can tighten up more and secure the firearm better. My only complaint is the screws need tightening every 2-3 weeks, which is no big deal. But the Comp-Tac is super smooth and is very comfortable. I like the double stack pistols and they fit my hand nice. The leather backed holsters become nice and smooth up against your body, and will form to your body after wearing it daily. I often take it off when I'm making dinner, and my wife says something about it. No problem!

If you want the single stack, they will be more lower profile, for sure. But, when I go to a small pistol, like my Kahr PM40, it's almost too small to grab and control quickly. The larger pistol of the G23 suites me fine and is easier to draw with. When I want to and have the right clothing, I'll carry my G20 in 10mm. I like that pistol a lot, and it packs a good punch.

If you're going to try IWB, go to Tractor Supply or Walmart and get you a pair of cheap jeans. If you wear a 34" waist, get a 36" waist. Get a belt 2 sizes larger than you normally wear, too. Then try the IWB with the larger pants and belt for a while. If you try them wearing your regular pants don't eat breakfast or lunch that day.

I hate IWB holsters, and am getting ready to have a clearance sale on every one I have squirreled away. I kept thinking I'd find one I could live with, but I can't. Don't like the fit, and don't want to buy pants 2 sizes too big.

I carry a glock 26 or 19 in the same comptac Minotaur. I'm in Houston so if you're willing to meet up near beltway 8 and 10, then I can let u try both weapon and holster.

Ok - just watched some videos on G23's and I like the idea of a mid compact like that. Any big differences between the Gen 3 and Gen 4 I should be aware of?

From a practical stand point, no there is no real difference in gen 3 and 4 other than the jockstrap ability on 4 that 3 doesn't have.

IMO, the G23 (or G19 in 9mm) is about the perfect size carry pistol. The sub compact pistols are too small, IMO.
