Do raccoons bother alfalfa pellets in a protein feeder? I'd like to put some out for axis. Thanks in advance.

I feed alfalfa all winter long. I sometimes take pics of the animals eating it. I've never had a pic of a raccoon.

Yes, coons eat protein pellets. I get pics of them doing it quite regularly. I usually put out a few dukes traps and cure the problem until the next wave comes through.

Alfalfa pellets are safe when we used them. Although when we were using them a free choice protein feeder was near that they would hammer. The pellets did take a while for the deer to take to. Now we just put out the regular bales of alfalfa. Some are not familiar with atual Alfala pellets since you don't see them everywhere

Start them on a few bales of alfalfa to get the axis around the protein feeder every day. Then put a bag or bucket of protein into the feeder and put a TC on it to see if the axis start eating out of it. When they do then mix a bucket of protein and a bucket of alfalfa pellets and put it in the feeder. If or when the axis empty it then go with only alfalfa pellets.
