In the market for a rifle that I will want passed down for generations. Something wood stock, stainless or blued. I saw the new Model 70 super grade maple and it is gorgeous. Also have always liked the Weatherby’s. What else would yall suggest that I could get new right now. Under or around $1500. Would probably stick with a 270 or 30-06. A caliber I know is common and be around for years to come.

I've got a Sako 85 Hunter 260 Remington that I bought for the same reason. Beautiful wood and superb craftsmanship. Don't shoot it much, but did use it to take my 21" Blackbuck. Shoots extremely well with factory ammo and will definitely be passed down to someone.

In your price range would be a Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 in 30-06 or 270. Already a classic.

Yeah I like the ones yall are throwing out. Forgot to say I had been looking at the Sakos as well. 7-08 was definitely on the list too. Never looked into 338 Federal is ammo readily available? Thanks guys. That Sako Finn Bear is priced really well!!!

Recently bought my new rifle that will likely be passed on to my son when that day comes. I went with the Tikka T3X Hunter Stainless in 308. Added a Leupold VX-6 HD 3-18x50. Very pleased overall. I like the new features of the T3X over the T3. Having trouble uploading pics

I have all those calibers. You have good taste Buzz. I didn't think anyone on the THF besides me knew what a 338 Federal was. It's no Creedmoor. peep
