This is how I set up my pig pipes. I see people having issues with caps breaking, chains binding, chains wrapped around trees. I use an earth anchor and place the tube away from brush and trees so it can’t get tangled. I also use a swivel on each end of the chain and one in the middle and never have to worry about things binding. Also use the heavy duty pvc not the cheap thin stuff they will destroy it. After it’s filled and in place I line each side with corn. Usually within a couple days hogs have found it, will also add some cool aid powder sometimes just to enhance the smell. If you build them and set them up this way they are dang near indestructible. I’ve had this one for almost 3 yrs no issues. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I use a 5 Ft pipe I usually have 5 holes. One on each end one in the middle then roll it over and put a hole about the center of the holes on the other side of that makes sense. I usually go with 1/2 inch but will do 5/8 as well. You can always tape over the old holes and drill new ones if they are emptying it too quick.

I realize it varies each time, but how long on average does the corn last using the 5' PVC once the hogs find it?

you are right it greatly varies. Lol. I’d say the average is 3-4 days but sometimes they will empty it in a day if a sounder hits it hard. If they are emptying it too fast I’ll tape up a couple holes and only leave 1-2. Holes for corn to fall out. I like to put these around spinning feeders just so if the hogs eat up all the thrown corn the tube will keep them around a little longer. I also have to deal with deer, coons, and cows sometimes eating the corn.

I do like SapperTitan I have about 5-6 holes only I have them down around the cleanout plug end. They will hit them regularlly until acorns fall. When the acorns were falling they would not touch my pipes for weeks. then the acorns played out and here they come back to the pipes. You have to have them able to spin on the chain or cable which ever you use. I use a coated 3/16 cable with it able to spin on each end. They still sometimes have it wrapped up on the t-post stake. I once had to weld the eye bolt closed again. They had gotten it spread enough to get it off the cable, but the pipe was only about 20 feet away. Good luck they work good.
