I have a S&W 29 that needs some timing work...anyone know of a GOOD revolver smith in the area (I'm in Plano). I've used the smiths at Riflegear and Targetmaster before but never had to have any revolver work done.
Thanks, Earl

If it's a timing issue send it back to S&W and let them do it.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Isn't it the hand that indexes the cylinder? I fixed my old revolver indexing by changing out worn parts.

Check The 1911 Academy in McKinney, they did a great job on my 586. Very experienced gunsmiths and you wont be without your gun for a year. Nice guys too.

Thanks Guys. Hwy Man I'm not looking to send it to S&W. I know they are the best but I don't want to be missing it forever and go thru a shipping hassle. It's probably just a worn part...cylinder doesn't want to latch closed with a gentle push as it should. Earl

It just needs a parts kit. Do it yourself if you’re comfy with your abilities.

I'm not Cast, at least not with revolvers. I'm ok with semi's but revolvers nope. I took it in to 1911 Academy today. I'm not having them do the work on it for the trigger but they did have one there that they have done some work on...I thought my 640-1 pocket .357 was a smooth double action but they really had that 686 there smoothed up nice.

Is it a timing issue AND a hard-to-close cylinder, or just hard to close and latch the cylinder?

I think there is more going on RiverRider. They said they will open it up, fix everything that is wrong (one thing is the ejector rod for sure) and get her in tip top shape. As I noted I'm no revolver guy other than just collecting and shooting the things. Kind of like my wife and her truck, just fix the damn thing

I can't say enough good things about 1911 Academy. They told me yesterday afternoon when I dropped it off that it may be 1-2 weeks. I told them that was fine. They called this morning saying it was done. It's back in my hands and working fine. They fixed an issue with the ejector rod where it wasn't engaging locking bolt pin correctly and also an issue inside with a piece that was hanging up on the hammer and shouldn't be, lastly they also fixed a fitting issue I was having with the grips. Price was $80 which I think was fair. Gun is working perfectly now. I definitely recommend these guys too.

Chuck worked on mine. I had told him yesterday I had only had the pistol for a week. Bought it and a few days later it started having issues. He said he knew how it felt to buy something that wasn't working right so got me fixed right up. glad you're back in business. They are good folks. I think Bryant did my action job.
