Looking at the Caldwell Deadshot Field pod. Any suggestions? For all around target shooting and hunting.

The cheapest is to take three sticks of appropriate length and girth and wrap some para cord around them. I did that once when I left the Bog Pod sitting on the bed rail of the pickup. My homemade sticks worked fine. They’re tucked under a log on the side of a mountain in Colorado. You’re welcome to them if you can find them. I doubt the para cord has rotted yet.

Get the MAX, the regular is pretty short, IMO.

I have a field pod and I’ve used it to shoot several animals at 100-200 yards. I wouldn’t suggest it for target shooting. It doesn’t lock into place, so it’s a little bit tough to get 100% steady. More than steady enough for hunting though. It’s also short, and requires the use of a chair or a kneeling position. Which is fine in a pop up blind.

Bass Pro Redhead brand. Excellent and inexpensive. I've had mine 4 years now plus I can mount camera on it for photos.

I've got a Fieldpod Max/Magnum and had no problem shooting steel out to a mile with it setting in a folding hunting chair.
It's tall enough that I can use it standing, and I'm 6'3".

Works fine for hunting if you are shooting from a sitting position and the chair/stool/stump is not too high. Also works fine for hunting from the kneeling position. No good for standing shots. I also would not use it for target shooting with anything larger than .243 if you plan on doing a significant volume of shooting. The recoil from my 35 Whelen pretty much did one in after about 25 shots.

I like the Bogpod. It seems a little more stable and better built than the Primos Trigger Stick. That being said, the bogpod takes allot longer to adjust the height.

Bass Pro brand...nearly identical to the BogPod for half the price. I have two and use them a lot for nighttime thermal hunting.
