Was about 200 yards off. That was last year. But it was caught on camera about a week ago too

A friend of mine is trying to catch a lion on a big high fence ranch right now. Something is killing and eating the axis deer but, an employee has seen it coming and going over the fence.

It will hang around for the right food source and if it's not harassed.
Good luck, we were seeing one up along the Red River a couple of years ago for about 2 months, then it sightings stopped.
They are impressive animals when you get up close. A couple of hog dogs just might get it treed if legal down there.

We've had a few on our land. First time one of the LOs saw one and announced it..we all kind of didn't believe it. Then a year later almost to the day. An LO called me to come shoot one in her yard. It didn't hang around but I saw it jump down a steep 60 ft cliff in seconds. Then two years later almost to the week another LO saw a mama and a little one.

My point is they will return the next year...maybe
I'm on 5000 acres with 16 nonhunting retired owners of it. It's very quite and there is a ton of food and hilly cover for them there. I thought no it's a great place for them to be.
If you don't see it again pay attention next year around the same time of year

Good luck it would be an awesome animal to take.

I believe TPWD wants you to contact them when you do kill one. At least they used to.

We have evidence of one where I hunt, but have yet to see one. I am looking forward with great anticipation to seeing one.

Cool animals, might let it walk if I saw it at my place, but would like it to walk by the trailcam first.

I heard there was a report of a lion at Wimberly at the Blue Hole. What have you heard??? Winds blew Steve and I off the Mescalero Apache Rez so I came home a day early. Trailed a lion yesterday until the wind got up to 20 mph and dry ground.
Adios,
Gary

Sorry, I know this is off topic but...

Does anyone know the reason that you can't hunt bats? I have no desire to do so but it just seems odd to me.

I am guessing because they are not considered a food animal, not normally a pest animal, are indigenous, and do a lot of good for the environment with species that eat tremendous amounts of bugs at night and others responsible for pollenating plants. Hunting them would serve little or no productive purpose.
