I need to get a set of rings for the CTR I just bought but not sure which ones would be best. This is the first rifle I’ve had with a picattiny rail. I will need 30mm rings. So far I’m looking at Vortex precision matched rings for $120, Nightforce ultralite 30mm rings for $120, or Trijicon accupoint rings for $86. If they’re all equally great rings, I would obviously prefer the less expensive Trijicon rings, but I have no experience with any of them.

Anyone have any experience with these, or are there some other rings in this price range I should consider?

TPS is my go to ring. They are fantastic. Machined really well, and come in aluminum and steel, and in a ton of heights. 30mm and 1” rings. I got my last set off of amazon of all places. They were less than $80. I usually get them from swfa.

What scope? I have a Bushnell 6-24x50 and used the Seekins rings (same as the Vortex). .92 might have gotten it done but they were out and I had to use the .97” rings. There’s not much room between the bell and the barrel, certainly couldn’t go lower than .92. This is my second set of Seekins and I like them.

I’m ordering a leupold VX5HD 3-15x44. That brings up another question, what ring height would I need?

I’ve read about the sermons rings but they seem pricey.

My first set is a set of .87s for my Win M70. I got them from Skylar at SWFA; they were a demo but you’d never be able to tell. I think he charged me $85 plus shipping. There are deals to be had!

Had a reputable guy recommend these today. I have been using Warne, but considering the TPS on my most recent purchase. Good to hear some feedback on them

I use the SWFA rings as well. Never had an issue.

If I was shooting an ultra-light 300WM, then I might feel the need to spend more than $30. All that being said, the TPS or Seekins in the $75-$100 range are not a terrible option if you want a little more peace of mind.

mediums would be fine, remember, a rail adds some height
I have the Nightforce ultralights on my 7mm08, great rings

I like the EGWs as well
I like the Talley Tactical but they are all a bit too tall I think for what you want to do

I have this exact set up, CTR with VX5HD 3-15 x 44. I prefer Warne rings. I have medium on it, only because I already had them. Low would be better, I have about .275" of clearance between barrel and scope.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.
