I reuse until it wears down. typically after several hours of tumbling. Use dryer sheets every 2 or 3 tumbles to remove the dust.

Use it multiple times. Add some brass polish to it, and they will come out purdy!!!

Ive been reloading (relatively low volume) for 15 years using corn cob media. I have changed my media 1 time lol I don't add anything to it but as of the last 2 times I have run it have put a dryer sheet in it and seems to be reducing dust.

I ran the same batch of corn con for many years, and added polish. It would get brass clean, but not shiny. Kind of the difference between flat, and gloss paint.
A few months ago I decided to replace it, and went with walnut shell treated with polish. About a gallon jug of it from Cabela's for $12. Clean shiny brass again. I'll use it for several years. And I tumble several thousand pieces per year.

You can wash walnut media. One large wool sock, fill with dirty media, rinse over a pan, pour off water, turn sock inside out and lay in pan in the sun, mix media every once and a while until dry. Pour back in tumbler top off with fresh media and back to work.

Does walnut media get stuck in the flash holes and primer pockets like corn cob? If you get the larger size walnut it does. I don't have a problem with corn cob getting stuck in the flash holes. Walnut was the only one I had do this.

what type polish and how do you apply it to the media? I used that Rooster polish once and it all clumped up, had to discard the whole bowl

Hornady One Shot Metal Polish, let it mix in for a couple min before you dump brass in. If you rush it it can clump inside the case.

Flitz has never clumped on me, and it does make the brass shine.

Try some Nu-Finish polish with corn cob, I run a pretty full brass load and run it 2 to 3 hrs. It really makes some of the purdyist(sp) brass you've seen! I also run my brass thru ss tumbler relativity often.

I used to tumble with CC and Flitz, worked great. There's the original NuFinish which works the same. I don't use it or walnut anymore, all SS now.

Brasso is a bad idea. It has ammonia in it, and exposure to ammonia can make brass brittle.

So a quick search, and lots of info on why not to use Brasso. Ammonia is bad for brass. But ammonia does evaporate. Maybe the reason Ive not had any trouble is I put about a teaspoon in the media and tumble lid off for 5- 10 min until the clumps are gone. I assume this allows the ammonia to dissipate and not get on the brass. Either way Ill be switching to a non-ammonia polish. learn something new everyday.

Maybe you're right about why you've seen no ill effects. I did google "brasso" this morning to be sure I was right about the ammonia content. I was scanning the article, so I may have misread something but it seems that there are different formulations of the product in different parts of the world. Also read some different uses for the stuff, such as polishing glass and plastic, restoring bakelite, and other stuff.
