It's a sweet out of the box and go shoot it rifle. I have enjoyed shooting mine. Very minimal recoil compared to the 30.06, but much more capable for longer distances if you desire. No problem killing Whitetails with it. up

Hard pressed to find a better "do it all" rifle. It's heavy enough and accurate enough to be good for target shooting, but light enough and short enough to be a good hunting rifle.

I shot a coworkers a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed with the Creedmoor. I’ve always been a Tikka fan and the CTR specifically. The rifle was putting down half inch groups on command with factory Hornady ammo and a SWFA 3-15. Recoil seemed non existent. If you are not a reloader I can’t think of a better combination to own. Despite the Tikka/Creedmoor nay sayers I think this is the real deal.

Edit: someone chime in on the 20 vs 24” in Creedmoor. I’m not that familiar with it but I do know the 20” in the CTR is way more user friendly.

I have the 24" since mine will be 99.99% used at the range. If you're using it for hunting as well, the 20" is a no-brainer IMHO.

That being said, if you aren't sure, it's a lot easier to have a 24" barrel cut to 20" than welding on 4" of barrel to a 20" to make it longer.

I have the ballistic twin (Tikka in 260) and really enjoy shooting it. Hardly ever use my 270 anymore. I shoot 100 and 120 gr Nosler BTs, and the 100’s have very little recoil. The 120’s kick a bit, but nothing like my 270. Nice rifle, and if I didn’t have one i’d buy one.

And mine has the 20 inch barrel, by choice.

I've had several CTRs come through. Most of them were shooting factory Hornady ammo, all did terrific.

20" more maneuverable.

24" makes more muzzle velocity.

Decide which one is more important to you.

How far do you plan to shoot it? Are you going to handload? That extra 4 inches doesn't mean a lot in terms of velocity (~125fps or less) if you're only ever going to shoot inside of 800yds. Conversely, that 4 inches means a lot when you add a silencer and are carrying it around. My current 6.5 creed is a 24", and I don't think the next barrel will be longer than 22".

I have the 20 and it will stretch it out to 800 yards no problem. If your getting a suppressor, it's the only way you want to go.

Looks like 20" is the right length for my uses, found out the Nikon x1000 is backordered for up to a month. Now I need to decide if I cancel that order and grab a Vortex or other scope. Trying to stay in that price range. Recs? Wait for the Nikon or grab something else.

What’s your price range on glass? At the same price as the Nikon I suggest the SWFA 3-15. There’s definitely better glass out there but if you’re dialing I can’t think of a better scope in that price range.

There is an SWFA 5-20 HD for $1k on SH right now. Includes rings. Pretty big upgrade from the 3-15 IMHO. I've had both. The 3-15 is a good scope, but the 5-20 is awesome.

Used SWFA 5-20 is your best bet. Also you’re better off spending more on the scope than the gun!

I can't find it right now because my laptop doesn't like the new forum format, but I saw it just this morning.

I would recommend the Burris XTR 2 3-15. Should be able to get one for 900 or less.

Used SS 5-25 HD is the answer.

I've had the same one for going on 6 years. It looks like hell, externally, all the controls (except windage) have been tortured, and it's never been sent in for repair. I used it yesterday. It is currently riding on an LR-308 that has not been zero checked in two months, but has been in and out of the truck more times than I can remember. It hit, cold bore at 500, and then backed up to 400 and 300 yards before I went home.

I have a Night Force ATACR F-1 5-25X, but I will always have a job for the SS 5-20X.
