So out of curiosity I'm on the Palmetto State Armory website and just browsing through their different products. I don't understand exactly why they have a bunch of the same thing priced at $419 (m-lok rifle kit?) but they do, but obviously it comes without a lower. However, it does come with a "lower build kit;" does this mean to fully assemble the rifle you would need to buy a "stripped lower?" Really basic question but I'm not sure...thanks

Can you give us a link to the Kit?

If you are looking at something like this:

http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-16-5-...-516446484.html

That is all the parts to build an AR15 you need except for the stripped lower, which is the serial numbered part and official the firearm.

The "Lower Build Kit" is the parts to build the lower, trigger, safety, grip, mag release, pins, springs, buffer, tube and stock.

As for why they have a bunch at $419, there are different barrel profiles, some stainless, some Nitride, also there are different foreends M-Lock or Keymod.

Midway has a similar kit for $359 right now, but I think the PSA kit is a lot nicer.

I wouldn't say it's an ignorant question, lot of us probably asked the same at some point

As VAFish said it's probably a kit containing everything but the lower receiver but a specific link would help

They sell dozens of kits so it's probably easier to manage a lot of the bases at about the same price point rather than have a ton priced within a few dollars of each other and just add extra later for options

Those kits have everything you need (other than tools) except for the stripped lower. All of that stuff can be shipped directly to your door. The stripped lower is the serial numbered part that must be purchased from or transferred through an FFL if new.

Ignorant means you don't know or weren't taught. People tend to put a very derogatory meaning to the word, but if you don't know something, were never taught, don't know where to find the answer, by definition you are ignorant. So if the OP has never built an AR15 and no one has told him or shown him how, then it is an ignorant question.

I'm ignorant about a lot of things. I'm a city/suburbs boy I love going to my cousins farm in Texas but I'm about as ignorant as you can get taking care of farm animals.

I have built about a dozen AR15's including installing barrels on uppers. So I can give some advice about that. Just don't ask me what to do if your cow has a fever.

Well now I know, and knowing is half the battle.

I've just only ever heard people using it in a derogatory manner or as an insult (usually similar to arrogant or brash for the most part, making my comment seem kind of ironic now) and have never heard anyone use it for what I guess is its proper definition. For having gone to Ennis schools it's kind of a big word so it's not the most surprising they didn't teach us it in school

Least expensive kit they have is @299 and then get their least expensive stripped lower for $39 and you have your self a gun that goes bang.

Thank you everyone!!! I meant ignorant in the literal sense, that I’ve no experience with building (or even owning) anything AR platform.

Now to control the impulse to buy 4 stripped lowers LOL

Build the first gun and you will go buy 4 more lowers. But by then you will have seen all the other roll marks so you buy different brands.

If there ever was a time to buy and/or build, I think this is it.

Buy them cheap and stack them deep. If the dems ever get back in power there will be a ban.
