What is the smallest number of decoys you can use and still be successful at decoying a few groups of snows? Not trying to get out there and kill hundreds of geese, just want to get into enough for a small group of 3-4 guys to kill a couple a piece. I only have about 6 dozen silosocks right now and am trying to acquire a few more, but Id have to take out a second mortgage on my home to run a spread like some guys are using. So has anyone ever had any success using small spreads and still getting on some geese? Also, if anyone knows of any cheap DIY ways of making snow goose decoys of any kind id be interested to here about that as well. thanks in advance

If you are where they want to be, it wont matter.

Would love to know how many geese my wife's family has shot over the years with 3 goose decoys. That is all they would put out in the rice fields in Gueydan, LA.

Fact!!!! I’ve put out 1000+ and not pulled the trigger. Earlier this year I put out 5 snow floaters and we shot the Centex Tri-fecta. 60 snows, 6 specs, 18 ducks.

If your wanting to see a big spin from the migrators its gonna take 1500+ most of the time. Not saying you wont pick off small groups and pairs without. Big groups want to see more birds on the ground than whats in their group.

Think ill get out there and give it a shot. I've never done much goose hunting so if I shot like 4 id be happy. If I set out 1,500 decoys id have to schedule an appointment with a chiropractor from my layout blind.

If I was going to run a small spread it would be a couple dozen nice full bodies.
